PeekYou is a people search service that lets users search for people by first name, last name, username, tags or location. All search inputs can be further refined. For instance, if you search for the last name “Arrington” over 3,500 matches will come up. To boil results down to only one match “Michael Arrington” you can refine the drop-down location menus for country, region and city, and uncheck tags in the life, school and work tag categories.
People profile pages have usual elements like bios, pictures, and videos. They have weblinks for blogs, websites, social networks, and press & news. They also have modules for RSS feeds so you can see what people are saying on their blogs and Twitter. Another people search staple on PeekYou is the use of descriptive tags. Users can add tags to tag categories like work, life and schools.
All profiles can be edited by anyone with an editor’s account. If you can’t find someone you can add a page for them. Editor accounts are kept separate from personal profile accounts.
PeekYou founder & CEO Michael Hussey also founded RateMyProfessors.com and RateMyTeachers.com. RateMyProfessors.com was eventually sold to MTV but he still operates RateMyTeachers.com.
