Snocap

Snocap is a multi-faceted B2B digital music distributor which authenticates and re-licences digital music while also providing white labeling services. Founded by the ultimate media disrupter, Shawn Fanning, as well as Silicon Valley mega-investor Ron Conway, Snocap is trying to legitimate the P2P downloading game by integrating tracking systems and payment tools into many sites supporting illegal downloads. This legitimating process has been embraced by few companies thus far and has generally been seen as a flawed idea. Snocap’s centralized database for licensed music is a digression in distribution technique and its belief that P2P sites will survive after failing to offer free downloads is counterintuitive. However, in addition to legitimating P2P companies, Snocap offers a type of White Label service which allows businesses to create their own selling platforms.

Of note is Snocap’s content deal with MySpace which will eventually allow musicians to sell their music through their personal profiles. While Snocap may not have much force to bring as far as offering an alternative to piracy, it may have a large impact on the long tail of music. Snocap will allow independent musicians, label backed or not, to set the price and digital rights management for each song that they put up for sale. Snocap’s central database will enforce artists’ settings upon retailers and allow them to distribute their music through additional channels. Other music retailers that Snocap has partnered with include imeem, ReverbNation, Passport Approved, Shoutlife, PumpAudio, IMP and CrackSpace. Currently Snocap has licensed music from all of the major labels as well as many independent music aggregators such as IODA and The Orchard.

Yes! I agree!! It's so frustrating!!!! I didn't download the "download tool" when I first tried purchasing music through SnoCap and now i'm destined to never recieve the music I purchased, luckily the first time I was able to contact the artist who sent me a CD, but the next try? No music, but they took my money no problem. After a long period I recieved a email saying that they would get back with me, but they never did.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!! Their system is full of bugs, and their customer service is non-existent. I've cancelled them and am now in a struggle to get them to provide a sales record for the time I had an active account. They are not on the up-and-up.

To anyone that reads this do not deal with Snocap! I was using their service to help distribute my work and after 8 months my account was shut down and I never received my shares! They have no contact number and ive sent them over a hundred e-mails and got no response, what they do is make profit from your work and shut your account down after a certain period of time, at the moment I am talking to an attorney to take legal action against them because it is a trap for independent artist who do not really know how the system works. If anyone else has had this problem please contact me at "djsincere1207@yahoo.com".

I too received no help after trying their "Contact Us" form. I guess it's there just for looks, more professional that way. I strongly dislike this company.

I am on this site because I am trying to maybe work with them but would you believe they do not reply to contact us emails. And they do not have a published phone number. Weird business plan. Rick

Not having ANY tech support is an insult to everyone involved. I'm looking so far in vain for any support groups, online threads for dialogue etc... for help with uploading issues and multiple stores communication flaws. best

I have had issues with Snocap as well and cannot get a response from their customer service. Does their tech support even exist?
