Noting the growing trends in group travel, Expedia.com and Microsoft vets founded TripHub in 2005. Based on the philosophy that “planning should be as fun as the trip,” TripHub provides users with many different ways to facilitate group travel. Recently, Triphub teamed up with Orbitz to provide a “powered by Triphub”group travel option. They are funded by Madrona Venture Group and other private investors.

TripHub.com creates an easy and fun way to plan group travel. Many of TripHub’s features conveniently bring together many different aspects of planning a trip together. Users are able to invite guests through email and manage RSVP lists, add events and destinations to their trips, and map out trip locations. Hotel and travel information can also be booked using either Orbitz, Expedia, or Travelocity. TripHub serves as an effective way to assist with group travel. One major competitor is Groople. The Colorado-based Groople recently announced $6 million in venture funding. In addition, Triphub also has a functional advertising and private label service which links services and goods to different parts of a trip-cycle, tapping into the thousands of dollars per trip that users typically spend.
