Jason C. Kim represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law. He defends employers in arbitration and litigation matters brought under a variety of employment-related statutes, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. He represents and

counsels clients in the full range of traditional labor matters, including litigating unfair labor practice cases before the National Labor Relations Board, negotiating labor contracts, assisting in organizing campaigns and arbitrating grievances arising under labor contracts.

Jason has represented several clients in class litigation matters arising under federal and state wage and hour laws, and has lectured and conducted training on the Fair Labor Standards Act.

As a member of the faculty of the Institute of Applied Management and Law, Jason teaches Blocks I and III of the Institute’s “Certificate in Employee Relations Law.” Jason also is a contributing author to BNA’s International Labor and Employment Laws Treatise.

Jason is a member of the Federal Labor Standards Legislation Committee of the American Bar Association and a member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.

Jason currently serves as a board and executive committee member of Chicago Cares, a public and community service organization that works to build stronger communities in Chicago through volunteerism. Chicago Cares works closely with community leaders to identify and research critical needs, and then develop targeted volunteerism programs to address those needs. Chicago Cares is an affiliate of Hands on Network, the largest volunteer network in the U.S.

He recently completed his term as president of the board of directors of the Korean American Community Services (“KACS”), and remains an active board member. Founded in 1972, KACS is the oldest not-for-profit community social service organization in the Midwest dedicated to serving the needs of the Korean American community. Currently serving more than 7,000 clients annually, KACS offers a wide range of services including counseling, child care, senior housing, health care programs, immigration services, employment assistance, computer resource and training center and English/civics education classes.

Jason also is an advisory board member of the Korean American Bar Association, having recently completed a term as its treasurer.

Jason is a member of Neal Gerber Eisenberg’s Hiring Committee, co-chair of its Diversity Committee, and serves as the co-chair of the firm’s Minority Initiative.

Before joining Neal Gerber Eisenberg, Jason served as an occupational safety and health officer for the Illinois Department of Labor. He also served as an environmental policy analyst for the government of the Republic of Korea, and as advisor to the Minister of Environment at the Third Session of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development.
