Jeremy Riney is a seasoned, serial entrepreneur with over 10 years experience primarily spanning digital media. Jeremy is currently the Founder of Guidebox which he started in January 2012. Guidebox is a unified search API for movies and TV shows across devices (web, iOS, Android, Smart TVs) and across nearly 100 sources including Hulu, Amazon,

iTunes, Netflix, all major broadcast networks (ABC, NBC, CBS), all major cable channels (AMC, HBO, Showtime) and many others. With one click the user can purchase or stream directly on their computer, mobile device, or send to Airplay or Chromecast for playback on the big screen.

Prior to Guidebox, Jeremy was the sole founder of Project Playlist, which he launched in 2006. Jeremy hired his first employee in mid-2007 when Playlist hit 7 million registered users, 25 million website page views and 100 million music player (widget) views per day. Playlist raised $3MM Series A in late summer of 2007 and Jeremy started to build a team. He also started negotiating with the record industry to transition the business to a licensed "freemium" model. Playlist was the fastest growing website in the US in April of 2008 according to Comscore. By this time Playlist had grown to 40 million registered users with > $12MM in annual revenue. Despite the progress and continued growth, the company was sued by the RIAA on behalf of all the major record labels (except for Sony) in mid-2008. Even with the lawsuit, Playlist was able to secure approximately $20MM in additional venture funds in order to settle the lawsuits and transition to a licensed business. The lawsuit was settled in 2010, but despite the valiant effort, Playlist declared bankruptcy later that year. The company continued to try to negotiate and raise money in order to emerge from bankruptcy but ultimately was unable to do so. Project Playlist was sold in 2012.

Before Playlist Jeremy was the sole founder of Music America in 2002. Music America was as a vision for a new type of music company. This type of music company would have digital distribution, music publishing, marketing and management all done online, with the artist at the center. The company comprised three divisions: Music America Recording, Music America Publishing and Music Technology. Music America Recording failed to take off. The music technology relaunched as Bluewire, which was a platform for artists to connect, market and sell directly to their fans. Each music artist would create their own fan club through Bluewire which they would manage. The social networking features drew the attention of other non-music clients who customized the platform for use in education, sports and general purpose social networking. Music America Publishing became Praise Collection which acquired the rights to thousands of hours of rare, live performances featuring some of the world's most famous gospel and country artists including Chet Atkins, CeCe Winans, Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams and many others. The performances were compiled into a subscription DVD service and sold through direct marketing channels. The three divisions, which became three separate companies, eventually all closed and were dissolved.

In addition to the "proper" companies that Jeremy started, he had several starts and stops. As a kid he had a baseball card shop in his garage. In college, Jeremy started an online used textbook business which transitioned into an online textbook rental business (before Chegg). He also started an online ticketing website (before Eventbrite) where people could set up events and sell tickets directly. Also during college he started an online company called Sponsored Offers which would pay people cash to complete offers (like sign up for a credit card). He also tried to start a social network for college students called The Hub which failed spectacularly.

Jeremy studied Business Management at Biola University in La Mirada, California and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2004.
