Company Performance Metrics
Divergent Capital was founded in Sydney Australia in 1999 as a sister company of managed services provider BlueFire Corporation. At the time Divergent was called BlueFire Innovation and was co-founded by BlueFire founder Ryan Glick together with Adam Pozniak, Kamal Sarma & David Nelson.
In 2003 the business was separated from BlueFire
Corporation and became a stand-alone independent investment fund which today is owned entirely by the management team Nelson and Glick.
Since its beginnings Divergent has invested approximately $10M into 15 companies. Today a few of these have been sold successfully, a few have failed, a few are performing well, and a few are breaking even while they gain traction. In December 2006 Divergent's investee Visean Information Systems was sold for almost $20M in a cash upfront transaction with a multinational oil services company. With operations in Australia, USA and Europe, Divergent’s portfolio companies are world leaders in their chosen fields with collective turnover in excess of $40M in the financial year ending June 2008.
Today Divergent is a leading source of early stage funding for information technology businesses and remains among the most active investors in this space. Divergent is likely to raise a new fund in 2010 that will be open to external investors.
