Dr. Craig Shimasaki is a scientist, businessperson, and serial entrepreneur with over 35 years of biotechnology industry experience, starting his career at Genentech. He co-founded nine companies and is President & CEO of Moleculera Labs, a precision medicine company and clinical laboratory providing a unique testing panel to identify children
suffering from a treatable neurologic autoimmune conditions. He is also CEO of the BioSource Consulting Group, a strategic consulting firm that assists entrepreneurs in translating their ideas into commercial products. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Oklahoma, Price School of Business, teaching biotechnology entrepreneurship.
Dr. Shimasaki is an inventor with several medical and diagnostic patents. His product development experience includes biologics, therapeutics, molecular diagnostics and medical devices, and he directed two CLIA Clinical Laboratories. He has led five clinical diagnostic tests through FDA approval and has been involved in raising over $57 million for these companies and participated in taking one company public. He served as mentor and advisor to multiple university student teams competing in the Governor’s Cup Business Plan Competition; two teams have won 1st place and another team has won 3rd place, each representing technology companies he was involved in developing. He has also authored a book titled “The Business of Bioscience: What Goes into Making a Biotechnology Product”.
Dr. Shimasaki received a BS in Biochemistry from University of California at Davis, a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Tulsa, and a MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Business.
