Dan Barry is an audio DSP specialist who likes to build companies. He is currently the Co-founder of GuitarApp and CEO and Co-founder of VRX Audio. In 2011 he co-founded and developed Riffstation which was acquired by Fender in 2015. In 2012 he co-founded FanFootage. Previously he was the founder, manager, and lead researcher in the Audio Research
Group based in the Department of Electrical Engineering Systems at The Dublin Institute of Technology.
Audio DSP is the primary focus of Dan's development work. He has a Ph.D. in Sound Source Separation. Some particular areas of interest include the following: Sound Source Separation, Transcription Systems, Automatic Content Retrieval Systems, Noise Reduction, and general speech and musical audio transformations. In 2004 a patent was taken out on Dan's sound source separation technology which was licensed to Sony and has been used in Singstar (PS3) ever since. Specialties
