David B. Burritt is an Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at United States Steel since September 2013. In January 2015, David added executive leadership of U. S. Steel’s North American Flat-Rolled commercial entities and corporate support services.
Prior to joining U. S. Steel, David served as Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer of Caterpillar Inc. from 2004 to June 2010. During more than 32 years with Caterpillar, David helped lead several important transformations and employee development initiatives at the company, including his role as business measurements manager to support Caterpillar’s reorganization into accountable business units, his role as corporate champion for the company-wide 6 Sigma deployment and his leadership role that helped Caterpillar effectively navigate the financial crisis and related recovery. Previously, David was a Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer of Caterpillar Inc. from 2002 to 2004 and held various positions of increasing responsibility at Caterpillar Inc. in finance, tax, accounting and international operations from 1978 to 2002.
A native of Morton, Ill., David earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1977 from Bradley University in Peoria and received a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois in Champaign in 1990.
David serves as a Member of the Board of Directors at Lockheed Martin since April 2008.
David is a Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accountants.
