Edward DeLeon Hickman is a Honolulu-based visionary who helped bring the state its first Bitcoin ATM and a more comprehensive understanding of the topics of technology, blockchain, and cryptocurrency. A graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Edward is passionate about both learning and teaching, having led workshops on blockchain and
cryptocurrency from his own home before the technological innovations truly took off and captured the mainstream's intrigue. Due to the success of his classes, Edward DeLeon Hickman received his certification as a blockchain professional and began leading larger gatherings that drew in countless attendees. Wielding such expertise naturally drew talented individuals to Edward's side, and ultimately helped him recruit for his company, Anatha. This decentralization-based organization is focused on putting an end to structural violence and replacing our world's most antiquated systems — including the economic system.
Edward DeLeon Hickman explained that blockchain isn’t necessarily a new technology or asset class or a new way to make money. It is the direction we as a civilization are headed as we move from a second industrial age to the information age. Edward understands that most of the systems we interact with (money, finance, economics) are old and outdated. With electronic banking, we are seeing a transition from those older systems. He believes in decentralization – taking the power out of the hands of institutions and giving it to the people for collective prosperity. He envisions a future of new financial systems free of structural violence.
He sees poverty as a disease that can be cured and issues like homelessness as a failure of society as a whole. He is a proud pragmatist and dreams of a world that doesn’t make charity an organized system managed by a middleman. He believes in helping people directly, so if he sees a homeless person he’ll immediately think: “let’s give him a home.” Likewise, if someone is poor, he’ll say “let’s give them value.”
Instead of a banking cartel that sits at the center of our civilization controlling everything, Edward DeLeon Hickman believes we can distribute wealth, making everyone, in a sense, their own personal bank. Instead of thinking about ways to acquire resources and make money, Edward believes we should all be helping others, which will ultimately make people rich in the process. Banking beyond banks will lift everyone up, not just the 1%. The wealthy will make money by helping the billions of other people on the planet, and they will get to live in a society with less of the natural byproduct of scarcity, such as crime and mental illness. In addition, they will be able to enjoy more artists and people of industry succeeding because they finally have the opportunity to do so.
In addition to all of his other accomplishments, Edward has also written a book on the subject of blockchain technology called ‘The Information Age of Abundance’ where he is able to explain in broader terms what he teaches in his classes.
