Ivan Brezak Brkan (born June, 19, 1987, Zagreb, Croatia) is a new media and web business journalist and CEO of Acumen Connect (www.acumen.hr), a content marketing agency. He's also the editor of Netokracija, a leading Croatian blog on internet technology, business and culture.
Starting his journalism career in Croatian magazines Bug
(www.bug.hr) and Mreža (www.bug.hr/mreza), Ivan has written both articles and whitepapers for both magazines, including the first large article about Croatian startup companies as well as an article about the regional (Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina) leading bloggers. Ivan later contributed articles to Plan B (www.planb.com.hr) (a popular technology and geek magazine) in Croatia, including a piece on the internet aspect of the Obama campaign. Ivan still writes for all three magazines to this day.
As a blogger, Ivan started as a copywriting and internet marketing author for Freelance Switch (www.freeelanceswitch.com). Ivan writes about web business in Central and Eastern Europe for Techcrunch UK (uk.techcrunch.com).
Working on events to promote new media and the web in the region, Ivan works as the PR manager and co-organizer of the Web.start conference in Zagreb (the first web startup conference in the region), as well as organizer of Barcamp Zagreb and Tweetup Zagreb.
