Nick Kingsbury has 30 years experience in business, of which 12 was in the role of CEO for two software companies, and 7 was as Sector Partner for the international venture capital company 3i.
Nick is an experienced international software entrepreneur and venture capitalist.
He started his career with one of the leading UK software houses before
founding his own company, Software Support Limited, in the mid 1980s which grew to become a leading systems integration company for Workflow applications. In 1996 this business merged with Staffware plc which then IPO’d on the London market. With Staffware Nick was Senior VP for International Business Development and Marketing.
In 1999 Nick joined the international venture capitalist, 3i plc, for which he was Sector Partner for the software and internet sector. 3i invested over $500m in 150 software companies across Europe, the US and Asia, of which Nick was personally involved in many. His role was to develop 3i’s investment strategy and to advise on new investments. He also worked with existing investee companies with their strategic development, notably through partnership with the leading IT players worldwide. He served on the board of three 3i companies, Propero, the virtualisation company, sold to VMWare, Metastorm, the leading Business Process Management company (as observer) and the security software company Chronicle Solutions where he was also interim CEO.
Nick left 3i in 2007 and now advises a number of companies on their corporate and funding strategies. He currently serves on the boards of several private and public companies. See engagements for more information.
