I have been involved in founding/building a company that aimed at reducing the massive amount of food which is disposed way before reaching the “best-before-date”. The app is designed to inform users about products that are close to their best-before-dates, to show discounts the supermarket is providing and even in which shelf a product is to
be found. My responsibilities among other things were backend development, connections to retail systems and negotiating contracts with big and small retailers. I supported the company during my bachelor studies, besides working part-time as an employee and through numerous international events like the FIWARE Smart Business Challenge in Sao Paulo. During that challenge I managed the further development of our app and we went on to win the challenge, including a 75.000€ price money. With this first insight in the start-up scene I was hooked and from this point on I developed several ideas and business models which finally led to fragPaul.
