He founded Madison Technologies, Harbinger Capital Partners, Harbinger Group Inc., Hc2, Inc., LightSquared/Ligado and is a former professional hockey player in Sweden after graduating from
Harvard University. In 2001, Falcone founded Harbinger Capital Partners with $25 million, reaching over $26 billion assets in 2008. Harbinger Capital made a number of high-profile investments including 20% of The New York Times in 2009, US Silica, Spectrum Brands, Microcell Flag Telecom and most notably Fortescue, the $60b Australian iron ore company where Harbinger was one of the early investors and owned over 20% of the company.
