Rachel Empey is Member of the Board of Directors of Telefónica Deutschland Holding AG as Chief Financial Officer. She is leading the company together with Markus Haas. Since 2011, she is responsible for the financial management of the German operations of Telefónica. In this position she was steering the successful IPO of Telefónica Deutschland at
the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in October 2012 – one of the biggest listings in Germany in recent years.
Prior to this, Empey held various finance and controlling leadership functions in the Telefónica group for many years. Since 2009 she was responsible for Controlling at Telefónica in Germany and was one of those steering the company`s strategy for the successful LTE frequency auction. Before she was Group Controller at Telefónica Europe responsible for the strategic budget planning of the European branches as well as varied finance departments at O2 in Great Britain. She started her career as an auditor at Ernst & Young and Business Analyst at Lucent Technologies.
Rachel Empey was born in 1976 in Truro (UK) and holds a MA (Hons) in Mathematical Science from St. Hilda’s Collage at University of Oxford.
