Ren Yi Hooi is the Founder and CEO of Lightning Social Ventures, a purpose-led FinTech startup founded in the UK during the pandemic.
Prior to this, Ren was the Product Director and Director of Financial Inclusion at Railsbank, a leading banking-as-a-service platform. While at Railsbank, she launched LightningAid, which helped to distribute over
£500,000 in donations in response to COVID-19.
Ren has also held a number of different roles across four continents. In addition to launching the Malaysia market for BIMA, a global InsurTech company, she worked at Bain & Company in Singapore, The Rockefeller Foundation in the US and Zola Electric in Tanzania.
Ren holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Economics from UC Berkeley.
