Wim Roelandts serves as lead outside director, chairman of the Compensation Committee, and chairman of the Nominating and Governance Committee of Applied Materials where he has been a director since 2004.
He is also a director of Aruba Networks, Inc. and serves on the Compensation Committee. Mr. Roelandts serves as a board member of IMEC,
Belgium and the El Camino Hospital Foundation. He is also the chairman of the advisory board of Engineering Pathways to Success at San Jose State University.
Prior to his current board positions, Mr. Roelandts served on the advisory board of the Center for Science, Technology and Society at Santa Clara University; as chairman of the Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA) (now the Global Semiconductor Alliance); and as chairman of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). At Xilinx, Inc., Mr. Roelandts was president and chief executive officer from 1996 to 2008, and served as chairman of the board from 2003 to 2009, and as a director from 1996 to 2009.
Prior to his tenure at Xilinx, Mr. Roelandts had a 29-year management career at Hewlett-Packard Company, where he served as senior vice president and general manager of the Computer Systems Organization and before that as vice president and general manager of the Network Systems Group.
Mr. Roelandts holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rijks Hogere Technische School in Anderlecht, Belgium.
