Hydro-Québec CapiTech is liquidating. It is a venture capital arm of Hydro-Québec specializing in seed, pre-start-up, start-up, fund of fund, and growth capital investments.
Hydro-Québec CapiTech will not consider investments in research and development projects, natural resources exploration or development, and the financing of infrastructure
projects such as power generating facilities. It prefers to invest in technology companies with a focus on distributed generation and energy, enabling and information technologies, and industrial companies and energy venture capital funds.
Hydro-Québec CapiTech typically invests in companies based in North America with a focus on Québec region but will also consider investments in Europe through the fund SAM Private Equity Energy Fund, L.P. It will hold a board seat in its portfolio companies.
Hydro-Québec CapiTech seeks to exit its portfolio companies within a period of five years to eight years. It earlier operated as a private company. Hydro-Québec CapiTech was founded in 1997 and is based in Montreal, Canada.
