Marco A. Chacon, PhD., is the Founder and President of IRAZÚ BIO, a company dedicated to early stage technology development, while bridging the uncertainty divide between academic research and drug development. In 2014, he was appointed to the University of Maryland Board of Trustees by University President, Jay A Perman, M.D.. His other board
positions include the Greater Baltimore Technology Council, the Tech Council of Maryland’s MD Bio division and the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) Biotechnology Advisory Board.
He also founded a regenerative medicine company, Irazu Biodiscovery, in 2000—which was based on his research, patents portfolio and scientific insights regarding the mechanism of calorie-restriction protection. Dr. Chacón received his BS degree from Youngstown State University and a Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park.
