The Autonomous University of Chile is a non-profit institution founded in Temuco on July 31, 1989.
It has a Board of Directors, composed of independent people with great university and public experience, whose role is the higher administration of the institution, adopting Higher-level decisions to ensure transparent management and adherence to
laws. With more than 150 thousand square meters -distributed in Santiago, Talca and Temuco- the university's mission is to train, at different levels of the system, competent graduates, socially responsible and oriented towards a permanent education, providing for this an academic environment quality, that promotes the development of teaching, research and the link with the environment, thus contributing to the progress of society. At present, the Autonomous University of Chile is accredited for 4 years, in the mandatory areas of Institutional Management and Undergraduate Teaching, in addition to the optional Research and Linking with the Environment. Around 90% of its 23,000 students study in accredited careers, with a similar number of graduates of its 29 undergraduate programs in its 7 faculties. Also, 73% of its staffing has a Master's degree, Doctor or an equivalent specialty. In addition, it has 3 Doctoral programs, 12 Master's programs and 2 Dental Specialties. Today, the institution is among the ten Chilean universities with the highest scientific productivity and in second place in the ranking between private institutions (Scopus and WoS),
