BCI founders were among the first, early in the first decade of 2000, to have started studying the mechanisms of immunological response that trigger the degeneration of implanted bioprostheses. Between 2015 and 2021, BCI conceived and developed the FACTA® (Functional Antigen Cross-linking Targeting Alpha-Gal) technology, an industrial process aimed at extending the lifespan of bioprostheses. FACTA holds a registered trademark and is protected by four patents. In early 2023, a new technology, named PROTEGO, has been developed and patented for the treatment of polymeric and metallic materials used for the manufacture of implantable medical devices. BCI, moreover offers third-party testing services and the development of new proprietary treatments.
