TfWM, delivering a world-class public transport network in the West Midlands.
They are responsible for delivery of public transport in the West Midlands. Their aim is to create a world-class public transport network delivered by a best in class organisation.
They represent the seven metropolitan councils of the West Midlands: Birmingham,
Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
In partnership with those authorities, they work to ensure everyone benefits from an effective transport system that meets the economic and environmental needs of the region, as well as providing access to jobs, finding innovative ways to help reduce congestion and offering seamless connections for people and goods to home and overseas markets.
They manage the English Travel Concessionary Scheme in the West Midlands for those at the age of entitlement, blind and disabled and children. There are 537,000 card holders making 75 million journeys a year. The scheme entitles pass holders to free bus travel in England and free rail and Metro travel in the West Midlands area.
Their many sites include bus stations and Travel Information Centres as well as their main offices at Centro House in Birmingham city centre. They ensure staff keep in touch, share ideas and have access to information where ever they are based.
They give people more sustainable travel options including cycle routes and storage, maintenance and safe riding courses and security marking. They also promote safe walking routes and how to consider which journeys you could make on foot.
They deliver in a complex and dynamic environment, from national transport policy to cleaning bus shelters, and working with key stakeholders. This requires a flexible, adaptable organisational service culture. They also recognise their responsibilities as a not for profit organisation, and balance innovation and creativity with value for money and better ways of working. This means partnership, professionalism and excellence in everything they do.
