ElectraLink was created in 1998 by the UK's Electricity Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to provide an independent, secure, and low-cost service to transfer data between the participants in the deregulated UK electricity market. They operate the regulated Data Transfer Service (DTS) which now underpins supplier switching, meter
interoperability, and other processes critical to the competitive gas and electricity markets in the UK. For several years, they have been in the process of procuring the Energy Market Data Hub (EMDH) – they are the way of bringing together all the products, services, and solutions they offer in one, easily accessible place. Incorporating and expanding the capability of the DTS, the EMDH is a transformation that will provide a platform for innovation that reflects the transformation of the energy industry.
