Electric Classifieds was an early Internet company with several classifieds properties, and it was the original parent of Match.com
About the Company
Electric Classifieds, Inc. (ECI), was the parent of Match.com. Match.com was sold to CUC International (which was soon after bought by Cendant International) in September 1997 for $6–7 million.
Following the sale of Match, ECI focused on developing back-end technology for newspapers as they transitioned online. The company shut down in 2004
after unsuccessfully establishing itself in this space.
