The Fab Foundation facilitates and supports the growth of the international fab lab network. It is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that emerged from MIT’s Center for Bits & Atoms Fab Lab Program. The organization is focused on providing access to tools, knowledge, and the financial means to educate, innovate, and invent using technology and
digital fabrication.
The Fab Foundation operates in segments such as Fab Labs, Fab Academy, Fab Research, and Fab Education. Fab labs provides widespread access to modern means for invention; The Fab Academy provides instruction and supervises investigation of the mechanisms, applications, and implications of digital fabrication; and Fab Education supports and facilitates digital fabrication education for learners of all ages.
The Fab Foundation was founded on February 9, 2009.
