Fondee (Direct Fondee a.s.) is a Czech online investment platform that makes investing simple, transparent, and low-cost. Founded in 2017 by Eva and Jan Hlavsovi and publicly launched in January 2020, the company lets retail investors put their money into broadly diversified portfolios of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that are built and rebalanced
for them — no prior experience required.
Clients choose from a range of passively managed portfolios, including seven classic and seven sustainable (ESG) options, and can open several account types tailored to different goals: a standard investment account, a children's account, a student account, the DIP long-term investment product (with annual tax relief), and accounts for companies. Fondee competes on low fees, low minimum investments, and the ability to withdraw funds at any time.
Headquartered in Prague, Fondee is regulated by the Czech National Bank (ČNB) as a licensed securities dealer and operates in the Czech Republic, Slovakia (since 2022), and Poland (since 2023). In 2024, the Direct group of entrepreneur Pavel Řehák acquired a 100% stake in the company — a transaction approved by the Czech National Bank in early 2025 — and Fondee continues to operate as part of Direct Group, serving more than 20,000 clients. The company is led by CEO Laureen Höllge.
