Highway Hospice cares for those affected by a terminal illness in the final stages of their lives. They advocate Palliative care, a treatment centered on the patient rather than the disease. The goal is to, “make people feel better”. Not only physically by providing comfort but also emotionally, socially, practically, intellectually, and
spiritually. A palliative care facility and a hospice facility provide comfort. However, palliative care can begin during diagnosis and at the same time as treatment. In hospice care, treatment of the disease is ceased after it becomes clear that the patient will not survive the illness. As a hospice, they are in a unique and privileged position, as we are very familiar with death as a natural event. Yes, death! Despite the fact that people don't like to think about it or discuss it, they will all experience it at some point. They will lose loved ones, friends, and family, and one day they will die.
