KMG Psychiatry is an integrative outpatient psychiatric practice operating under KAB Medical Group Inc, serving patients throughout San Diego, Chula Vista, and Vista, California. The practice was founded in October 2016 to respond to long-standing challenges in outpatient mental health care, including delayed access, fragmented treatment, and
limited continuity. From the beginning, KMG Psychiatry has focused on delivering reliable, evidence-based care through psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and interventional treatments. A primary area of clinical focus is the treatment of depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, with continued commitment to military personnel and underserved populations.
The establishment of KMG Psychiatry was influenced by the observation that many individuals struggled to obtain timely and coordinated psychiatric care. Short appointments and limited follow-up often made it difficult to address complex mental health conditions in a meaningful way. The founders believed that psychiatric care should involve more than isolated treatment decisions. Their approach emphasized careful assessment, consistency, and treatment plans that evolve based on clinical progress rather than fixed timelines.
Care at KMG Psychiatry begins with a comprehensive mental health evaluation that examines symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, previous treatment experiences, and the impact of symptoms on daily functioning. Based on this evaluation, providers develop individualized treatment plans tailored to the patient’s diagnosis and needs. These plans are reviewed regularly and adjusted as progress is measured, allowing treatment to remain flexible and responsive over time.
KMG Psychiatry provides outpatient psychiatric services for adults, adolescents, and children when clinically appropriate. The practice treats a wide range of psychiatric and neurodevelopmental conditions, including depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, autism spectrum disorders, and related conditions. In addition to diagnostic services and medication management, patients may receive psychotherapy, mental health counseling, forensic mental health evaluations, and sleep medicine services when sleep disturbances contribute to psychiatric symptoms.
A significant area of focus for the practice is the treatment of depression and PTSD among active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. KMG Psychiatry recognizes the functional demands, stress exposure, and occupational responsibilities associated with military service. Treatment plans for this population are designed to support symptom improvement while also addressing daily performance and long-term stability. Medication management and psychotherapy are often combined with interventional options when clinically appropriate.
Transcranial magnetic stimulation is an important component of care at KMG Psychiatry. The practice utilizes FDA-cleared NeuroStar Advanced Therapy, approved for the treatment of major depressive disorder since 2008. TMS delivers targeted magnetic pulses to specific regions of the brain involved in mood regulation. Treatments are conducted in the office with patients awake and seated comfortably. Sessions typically last 19-37 minutes and are administered 5 days per week over several weeks. Many patients report improvement earlier than is commonly seen with medication alone.
TMS is considered noninvasive and does not require anesthesia or recovery time. Patients can return to normal activities immediately following each session. Side effects are generally mild, while serious risks remain uncommon with appropriate screening and monitoring.
KMG Psychiatry operates multiple locations across San Diego County to improve access to care. Appointments are often available within one week. The practice has received regional recognition and holds Diamond Circle Provider status from NeuroStar, reflecting its experience and consistent delivery of transcranial magnetic stimulation services.
