Driven by the entrepreneurial DNA of the Norwegian tycoon Erling Lorentzen - who planted the first eucalyptus forest in Brazil and founded Aracruz Celulose - we have built successful companies aligned with the core business vocations of the country.

Latin America's largest pulp and paper exporter for decades, became the first forestry company in the world to be part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in 2006 and was sold in 2008 for US$ 547 million. The group’s founder was one of the pioneering members of the Business Council for Sustainable Development, now the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, WBCSD. He was also at the inception of initiatives like the UN Global Compact, WWF Brazil, Endeavor and ECO 92. A recent highlight of our trajectory is New Steel, a company that develops a disruptive technology for dry iron ore processing sold to Vale for US$ 500 million in 2019.
