Company Performance Metrics
MEGWARE receives order to install the new hot water-cooled high-performance computer.
MEGWARE's path to success spans more than a quarter century of technology history. What began on February 1, 1990 in the garage of one of the company's founders with the production of computers, has become a Europe-wide operating company for
high-performance computing and IT solutions.
The company founders Dr. Gerd Maudrich, Steffen Eckerscham and Jürgen Gretzschel started with 6 employees at the time. The company expanded rapidly. Within a short time, they opened 30 computer shops in central Germany and developed into a holistic IT system solution provider for small and medium-sized companies, schools, authorities and universities.
In the mid-nineties, they began designing and producing scalable compute clusters. The first MEGWARE cluster was delivered to Chemnitz University of Technology in 2000. Within a few weeks, the Chemnitzer Linux Cluster (CLiC) was planned, manufactured and installed. He reached the 126th place in the Top500 list of the fastest high performance computers in the world in the same year and also received the award as the world's fastest computer based on conventional computer components.
