Mobius Energy Storage Inc is pioneering the commercialization the Globally patented of an iron slurry flow battery (ISFB) that promises to revolutionize distributed energy storage. This technology is crucial for the global shift from traditional energy sources to renewable ones, addressing the need for extremely low-cost, utility-scale, safe, and
sustainable long-duration energy storage, enhancing grid stability and reliability. Offering over 10 hours of continuous energy storage, the ISFB is ideal for stationary applications that require reliable long-duration storage. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Capital Costs: The ISFB delivers energy storage at $40/kWh for energy capacity and $480/kW for power, equating to $88,000 for a 100 kW, 1 MWh system. • System Longevity: Designed for a lifespan of 25 years with minimal performance degradation. • Efficiency: Round-trip efficiency (RTE) of 75-85%, with idle losses below 1% per month.
Based in Cleveland, Ohio, Mobius Energy Storage is supported by a robust board and an international management team. The scientific team is led by our Chief Scientist Dr. Robert Savinell, who, along with Jesse Wainright and Nicholas Sinclair, invented the ISFB. Dr. Robert Savinell previously developed the iron hybrid flow battery technology that was commercialized by Energy Storage Systems “ESS Inc”. The Mobius ISFB second generation technology has been designed to overcome the shortcomings of its predecessor. Dr. Savinell, has over 40 years of experience in electrochemical engineering, with numerous awards and accolades, including the Department of Energy’s Emerging Frontiers Research Center grant and the Electrochemical Society’s Vittorio De Nora Award.
