Motic manufactures conventional compound and digital microscopes, cameras and software solutions for imaging of micro and macrostructures.
Founded in 1988 by Speed Fair Co. Ltd and headquartered in Hong Kong, Motic employed over 2500 workers. The company has regional offices in Spain, Germany, North America, and China.
In 1996, Motic
established its first manufacturing plants in Xiamen, China. Motic Xiamen also consist of an established R&D center housing over 100 professional engineers and technicians covering optical, mechanical, industrial, electronics and software designs. Other manufacturing centers are located in Chengdu (2005) and Guiyang (2006).
In early 1998, Motic began to explore and develop the manufacture of digital microscopy solutions, digital imaging products and application software. Motic also incorporates a software development team in Canada. This successful transition marked a milestone for the company turning Motic into one of the leading brand names in digital microscopy.
Motic is a recipient of the B-Hert award in 2006 for the title of the best education and training collaboration. The project initially intended to explore the development and delivery of innovative inspiring and effective learning and teaching environments in biology. Collaboration between Motic and the Monash University Faculty of Science has resulted in the development of a new technology that links microscopes to computers and student computers to teaching ones, creating a truly interactive digital education laboratory.
