OneCommunity is a nonprofit organization that serves Northeast Ohio by connecting public and nonprofit institutions to their next-generation fiber-optic network, enabling those institutions to offer enhanced, innovative solutions, and transforming their region's image and economic future by attracting outside investment and creating business
and job opportunities.
They connect organizations such as schools, hospitals, nonprofits, government entities and others to the Internet and to each other, allowing for their community to collaborate and achieve their missions in new ways. They focus on programs and services that utilize broadband access and public-private partnerships to support improved education, health care, government and economic development in Northeast Ohio.
In addition, they partnered with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to create the Knight Center of Digital Excellence, which assists communities in creating technology strategies to drive economic development and civic opportunity. The Center’s leadership and on-the-ground support work with community leaders to explore innovative approaches that meet the unique challenges of competing and thriving in the new economy.
