PalmSource Inc. develops software technologies for the mobile and personal computer markets.
The company develops software for mobile products and the networking infrastructure needed to support them. Its software makes it possible for netbook computers, laptops and notebooks, and smartphones to access the internet through wireless
communications systems.
Along with its IP Infusion subsidiary, PalmSource also develops software to run the networks and servers in the wireless infrastructure. The company provides the Garnet operating system, the successor to the OS that powered the Palm Pilot PDA, and a commercial-grade platform based on the open-source Linux OS for mobile phones. Later on, PalmSource changed its name to ACCESS Systems Americas, a subsidiary of Japan's ACCESS Co., Ltd.
