In February of 1963, Ronnie Peters established a family business paper agency. The role of the business was to facilitate the importing of paper products directly from paper mills around the world. In time, as customer requirements and expectations grew, the business acquired warehouses to keep back-up stock and meet the demands of a growing
clientele, as well as vehicles to distribute the products across the country. As Peters himself put it: “we need to support the products we are trying to sell”.
In the ensuing four decades, Peters Papers grew to become the largest paper merchant in South Africa and a household name in the industry. Today, the company distributes and sources product from more than 40 of the world’s most famous paper mills. Via its national distribution network – comprising some 55 000m2 of warehouse space and 80 delivery vehicles – the company sells in excess of 100 000 tons of paper and board annually to more than 3 000 customers. In addition, the Peters Papers Indent division, which acts as agent for the company´s many international principals, generates annual business in excess of 15 000 tons.
Peters Papers is headquartered in Johannesburg, with branches in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban, and a fully owned subsidiary in Namibia.
