PHASE stands for ‘Practical Help Achieving Self-Empowerment’, and that is exactly what they do; they are a charity working in Nepal (through local partners) with communities to provide the skills and services families need to break the cycle of poverty. PHASE works in extremely isolated Himalayan mountain villages in Nepal. These regions have very
limited resources, a harsh climate and mountainous terrain – it is a real challenge to deliver even basic services here, especially following the devastating earthquakes that shook the country in April and May 2015.
At PHASE, they believe that poor health, low education and poverty are all aspects of the same problem and create a vicious cycle, preventing people from controlling their own futures. For over 10 years they have been working to sustainably reduce poverty through community based health, education and livelihood projects, which particularly support the most vulnerable. PHASE empowers communities, and works in partnership with the local government, to re-establish health and education services, leading to self-sustaining provision.
