Replication Medical relies upon its proprietary hydrogel technology (HPAN) to produce minimally invasive spine implants. The company focuses on developing solutions for low back pain caused by degenerative disc disease and its products are used by orthopedic and neurological surgeons, pain specialists, rheumatologists, and vascular surgeons. In
the U.S., the company sells EnGuard, a hydrogel tissue cover that protects spinal blood vessels following surgery. The company also sells GelStix, an injectable nucleus augmentation implant, and GelFix, an interspinous spacer, both made of HPAN for the treatment of low back pain caused by degenerative disc disease in the European Union.
The company is under new management and is currently planning the U.S. clinical trial for GelStix FDA approval and expanding its marketing and sales efforts for GelStix in the E.U.
