Company Performance Metrics
Risepoint (formerly Academic Partnerships) is a global education technology company that helps regional universities launch and grow high quality online programs that support—and provide a high return on investment for—modern learners.
Founded in 2007, Risepoint serves more than 100 not-for-profit universities and colleges across the United
States, the United Kingdom, and APAC, with operations spanning 40 states and 5 countries. The company focuses on helping universities grow by launching and scaling affordable, workforce relevant education in high demand fields, including nursing, healthcare, teaching, business, technology, public service, and undergraduate degree completion. Approximately 95% of students in Risepoint-supported programs are working adults.
Products and Services Risepoint provides universities with an integrated suite of products and services to support the student journey through program completion, as well as the long-term partner growth trajectory. These include technology infrastructure, integrated digital and traditional marketing, student journey management (recruitment support, enrollment management, and retention services), and ongoing performance analytics. The company does not confer degrees and is not involved in academic decisions, admissions, or financial aid; the university maintains full control of those academic functions.
Contracting Models Risepoint contracts with universities under two primary models. In the fee-for-persistence contracting model, compensation is structured around student retention and program progression, aligning Risepoint incentives with long term student success. In the fee-for-service contracting model, universities pay for defined services at agreed rates. Both contracting models are designed to accommodate the varying growth stages and financial circumstances of universities. History Risepoint was founded in 2007 as Academic Partnerships (AP). Academic Partnerships expanded through the 2010s to serve dozens of regional public universities across the United States. In January 2024, Academic Partnerships completed the acquisition of Wiley University Services, the higher education division of John Wiley & Sons, significantly expanding its university partner network and international footprint. The company rebranded as Risepoint on May 1, 2024. Research and Outcomes Risepoint is the publisher of the Voice of the Online Learner (VOL), an annual thought leadership research study that began in 2012. VOL was first published under Learning House, then Wiley, and now Risepoint. It surveys a national sample of online learners on their preferences, motivators, and needs and is widely cited across the industry. Risepoint also publishes an annual student outcomes (ROI) study in partnership with independent research firm Ipsos. The 2025 edition found that graduates of Risepoint-supported programs recover their education investment in an average of 1.6 years, among the strongest ROI outcomes reported for online programs. The study also found that, for the third consecutive year, graduates described their education as worth the investment. Leadership Fernando Bleichmar serves as CEO, a role he assumed in 2022. Deanna Raineri, Ph.D., serves as Chief Academic and Product Officer, joining in February 2025 from prior roles at Northeastern University, Coursera, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Fernando Lau serves as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing day-to-day operations across the company's global footprint and the cross-functional alignment between technology, marketing, and student support functions that university partners rely on. Sajit Joseph serves as Chief Technology Officer, leading the platform engineering, data infrastructure, and product technology that supports more than 100 university partners and the working adults enrolled in Risepoint-supported programs. Susan Dukes serves as President, University Partnerships, leading existing partner relationships and program growth across the established partner network. Jay Hatcher serves as President, New University Partnerships, leading new partner identification, business development, and the expansion of the Risepoint partner network. Ron Collins serves as Chief Financial Officer, and Tim Cleary serves as Chief Strategy Officer, with Adriana Bokel Herde (Chief People Officer), Katelynn Dugan (Chief Communications Officer), and Marcel Valenta (Chief Legal and Compliance Officer) rounding out the executive team. Scale Risepoint employs more than 1,400 professionals across the United States, the United Kingdom, and APAC.
