Founded in 2008, Roc Nation is a global entertainment company and management agency. The company was jointly developed by industry professionals JAŸ-Z (Chairman), Desiree Perez (CEO), Jay Brown (Vice Chairman), Juan Perez (President of Roc Nation Sports), and Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith (President of A&R, Roc Nation). The full-service organization
offers a broad range of services to meet the diverse needs of its client roster, including brand strategy, music publishing, production, touring, and artist management. Roc Nation also offers ROC Nation distribution, a worldwide distribution platform that ensures creators retain ownership of their work, gain insight into their audience, and grow their fanbase. Roc Nation is home to some of the most recognized names in current popular music and culture: Rihanna, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Uzi Vert, J Balvin, Big Sean, A$AP Rocky, DJ Khaled, and Christina Aguilera.
Born out of JAŸ-Z’s love of sports, Roc Nation Sports, founded in 2013, provides expert career guidance and expertise to professional athletes, while seeding the future for players both on and off the field. Roc Nation Sports specializes in incubating and deploying marketing and endorsement deals, spearheading charitable outreach initiatives, designing brand strategies, and managing media relations. In 2019, Roc Nation Sports International expanded the Roc Nation Sports client roster with players across international football, cricket, and rugby. Roc Nation Sports athletes include LaMelo Ball, Kevin De Bruyne, Skylar Diggins, Robinson Canó, Dez Bryant, Endrick, Kyler Murray, and Vini Junior.
Roc Nation demonstrates its unwavering commitment to humanitarianism and justice through its social impact arm, Team Roc. Dedicated to education, justice, emergency relief, community goodwill, and health and wellness, Team Roc catalyzes enduring change through industry partnerships and financial contributions. It has served over 5.2 million individuals and mobilized more than $94.6 million in the past seven years alone. Team Roc also helps Roc Nation clients establish their own philanthropic endeavors. Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation, Big Sean’s Sean Anderson Foundation, and Robinson Canó’s RC24 Foundation are some of the many causes that have been developed and operationalized as a result of Team Roc’s commitment. Another organization born out of Team Roc is the United Justice Coalition, a group of expert advisors who promote criminal justice reform and raise awareness about racial justice and policy issues that affect vulnerable communities. In 2021 and 2024, Team Roc worked in tandem with REFORM Alliance to host job fairs to assist individuals impacted by the criminal justice system in overcoming employment barriers.
Roc Nation collaborated with Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York, to establish the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment to educate the next generation of entertainment industry leaders. The Roc Nation School offers undergraduate degrees in sports communication and marketing; music, technology, entrepreneurship, and production; vocal performance; and sports management. There is also a graduate degree program available for those focused on more advanced education in sports management.
