Company Performance Metrics
ROSOND is one of southern Africa’s leaders in the mining industry. The company, established over 50 years ago as RODIO/ROSOND and is active in underground mining development and exploration drilling, cementation works and pre-cementation of shafts as well as grout pack support systems. The company has long-term contracts with leading mining
companies such as Goldfields, Anglo Platinum, Implats and Lonmin, BHP Billiton, Kumba Resources, and South Deep Gold Mine. Since 1961, ROSOND has provided its services to the Buffelsfontein Gold Mine, but has also serviced the Amandebult Platinum mine for over 20 years. ROSOND has traditionally been active in the gold mining services sector but its involvement in the platinum mining sector has also been significant in recent years.
In 1956, multinational company RODIO started servicing southern Africa’s mining and civil engineering industries and was associated with the Barlow group. RODIO created ROSOND to become RODIO/ROSOND – a company which established a niche presence in the market and which introduced many original cementation techniques used for geotechnical purposes. Specifically, the company developed its own techniques such as high shear, high-speed mixing and equipment for the grouting of cement and the long range pumping of cement slurries. In 1991, the international RODIO group was sold, becoming an independent company owned by Swiss-based GEOSOND Holdings.
