SAM Private Equity is an investment firm specialized in direct and fund of funds investments. Within fund of funds, it invests in venture capital funds, private equity funds, secondary investment funds, primary and secondary cleantech funds, and mid- and large-sized buyout funds. Within direct investments, it focuses on growth capital, development
capital, later stage, late venture, early venture, buyout, and middle market investments.
The firm seeks to invest in the energy, energy generation, energy storage, energy infrastructure, health and nutrition, social and governance practices, resource productivity, energy efficiency, transportation, water and wastewater, air and environment, materials, manufacturing and industrial, agriculture, and recycling and waste sectors.
Within energy generation, the firm invests in wind, solar, hydro, marine, biofuels, geothermal, clean coal technologies, and coal bed methane. In energy storage, the company’s the focus is on fuel cells, advanced batteries, and hybrid systems. Within energy infrastructure, it invests in management, smart grids, and transmission. In energy efficiency, the firm focuses on lighting, buildings, glass, ESCOs, combined heat, and power. Within transportation, it invests in structures, fuels, hydrogen highways, biofuel distribution, electric vehicles, and vehicle sharing. In water and wastewater, the firm invests in water treatment, water conservation, wastewater treatment, and desalination. Within air and environment, it focuses on cleanup and safety, emissions control, monitoring and compliance, carbon capture, and SOX and NOX removal.
In materials, the firm invests in nanotechnology, bio, and chemical fields. Within manufacturing, it invests in advanced packaging, monitoring and control, smart production, as well as in energy efficiency, power production from waste and biomass, material recycling and biological materials, water technologies, and air treatment technologies. In agriculture, the firm invests in natural pesticides, land management, and aquaculture. Within recycling and waste, it invests in recycling and waste treatment.
SAM Private Equity also invests in electric power transmission and control, technology hardware and equipment, biotechnology, food products, sanitary services, recycling and reclamation machinery, agricultural machinery and equipment, building products, fertilizers, and agricultural chemicals. The firm seeks to invest in North America with a focus on the United States; South America; Asia with a focus on India and China; Europe with a focus on Western Europe and Benelux regions; and other emerging markets. It also seeks to make co-investments.
