Sitka, an independent company, was founded in 1999 by an experienced group of European professionals. Sitka was set up as a specialist private equity and advisory company to focus on the health and life sciences sector throughout Europe.

Sitka's European team has a cumulative experience of over 60 years in the fields of venture capital, entrepreneurship, corporate advisory, financial control and major pharmaceutical company management. The team is supported by an industrial advisory panel of European entrepreneurs which makes Sitka ideally situated to advise investee companies on a range of issues from mergers, acquisitions and fundraising to strategic alliances and planning.

The Sitka Spruce tree, which originates from the island, is known for its strength and rapid rate of growth. Its height can reach 80 metres and legend says that "it transforms rain into gold". It has become the logo and a significant hallmark for the company.
