What is SubSchool? SubSchool is an all-in-one platform for online teaching where you can create and sell courses and run tutoring without building a website or wiring payment systems. It is simple: register, click Create Course, add your lesson materials (video, slides, or an article) and SubSchool helps you turn that content into structured
lessons, homework, and an engaging learning flow.
Story I used to teach physics as a tutor. Later, together with a mathematician friend, we launched a small online school with group courses and invited other teachers to join. And then reality hit: video calls alone do not scale. Once you have multiple groups, different teachers, homework, progress tracking, payments, and constant back-and-forth with students, the "just use Zoom" approach becomes chaos. We tried existing solutions. Some were simple but limited to uploading recordings. Others had the features but were complicated, expensive, or built for admins instead of teachers. So we built SubSchool with one obsession: keep it simple for teachers, but powerful enough to run real online education - courses, tutoring, sales, and the routine automation teachers actually need.
Key features (what SubSchool does today) 1) Course and lesson creation (content-first) - Build courses with modules and lessons - Each lesson can include video, presentations, and a text article - Run live lessons and automatically store the recording inside the lesson or in chat
2) AI homework generation (from your lesson materials) - Generate homework as a fixed set of exercises - Or generate adaptive homework that adjusts to the student's performance - Create assignments in minutes instead of manually writing new variations every time
3) AI grading that actually saves time - Automatically checks essays - Checks interview-style answers where students respond with voice/video - Validates input answers so students do not "fail" due to formatting or wording issues
4) Tutoring built-in (calendar -> lesson -> recording -> billing) - Teachers set availability in a calendar - Students request a time slot, the teacher approves it, and a lesson link is created - The recording is saved in chat and homework can be sent/generated there - Billing can be calculated automatically based on the session recording length
5) Chats that glue everything together - Course chats for group learning - 1-1 chats for tutoring and direct support - Assignments, submissions, feedback, and recordings live in one place
6) Sales and student experience - Students can buy a course as a full bundle or purchase modules/individual lessons to try before committing - Schools can publish a public school profile - There is a support portal and a way to submit marketing materials
What we are building next (near-term direction) Our goal is to automate the maximum amount of teacher routine work and make learning feel more engaging without turning the platform into a cockpit. - Smarter adaptive learning loops: performance -> next homework set -> targeted practice - Better outcomes tracking for exam-prep courses (clear progress, motivation, and measurable improvement) - Even faster course creation: AI-assisted covers, structure suggestions, and reusable homework flows - A complete "teach + tutor + sell" workflow so teachers can run both group courses and 1:1 lessons in one system without switching tools
