The University of Minho (UMinho), a young, thriving and internationally minded Portuguese university, was founded in 1973 and started its academic activity in 1974. Thus, it was the first Portuguese university to adhere to the open access movement, as well as the first Portuguese Higher Education Institution to publish its sustainability report using the Global Report Initiative Guidelines.
