Although the State University of New York system boasts a number of impressive colleges, none are as comprehensive as the University at Buffalo (UB). With nearly 30,000 students, the University at Buffalo is the largest of the SUNYs, yet it maintains a low student-to-faculty ratio under 13:1.
UB’s academics are divided amongst more than a dozen
schools and colleges. About 100 undergraduate degrees are available, as well as nearly 300 master’s, doctoral and professional degrees. This staggering variety of academics is enough to satisfy even the most intellectually curious of students.
Student life at UB features a number of ways to get involved, including service programs, student organizations, and Greek life. The university also organizes several cultural events throughout the year, such as concerts and guest speakers.
The typical University at Buffalo financial aid packages is consist of a federal grant and loan, a campus job and an institutional scholarship. UB’s scholarships are based on merit and can be renewed for up to four years.
Admissions to UB are competitive, and the university recommends rigorous college prep coursework in high school. Your academic record is the main consideration, but UB’s admissions officers also consider a variety of criteria, such as community service, creative ability, and leadership.
