VIS was listed on the Icelandic stock mar­ket in 2013. The comp­any was form­ally esta­blis­hed on Febru­ary 5, 1989 with the mer­ger of Sam­vinnu­trygg­ing­ar and Bruna­bóta­fé­lag Íslands, which traces its history back to 1917.
