Ai Oikawa, Ph.D. is the founder of AFINGEN® and Astalake Bio, where she develops plant biotechnology platforms to advance sustainable food, feed, fiber, and phytochemicals production. Her research has been supported by SBIR grants from the U.S. Department of Energy, USDA, and NASA for its impact on global food security and environmental
sustainability. Dr. Oikawa earned her Ph.D. in Agricultural Bioprocess Engineering, followed by research appointments at Yale University, UC Berkeley, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. She has also completed executive training at Harvard Business School and UC Davis School of Law, focusing on technology integration, intellectual property, and commercialization.
