Dr. Panitch has over 20 years of experience in biopolymer and biomaterials research, focusing on the design of biomimetic materials for applications in drug delivery and regenerative medicine. Dr. Panitch has co-founded three biotechnology companies based on this research. Currently Professor in Biomedical Engineering and Vice Provost for Faculty
Affairs at Purdue University, Dr. Panitch will join the department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Davis, as Chair in June 2016. Dr. Panitch is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, the Biomedical Engineering Society and the National Academy of Inventors. Dr. Panitch received degrees in both Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering from Smith College and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and conducted postdoctoral research at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and the University of Zurich.
