Amir received his ph.D. In bioengineering from syracuse university in 2014 under prof. Patrick mather. His work investigated the synthesis of liquid-crystal elastomers and hydrogels. He joined the smart materials and biomechanics (smab) lab at the university of colorado denver as a postdoctoral scientist and has been working as an adjunct professor
in the department of mechanical engineering since 2016. Amir received an nsf i-corps award to investigate using liquid-crystal elastomers for biomedical applications in december 2016.
