Amr Salem is the CEO of Quantela Inc. and a board member since January 2020. Before that, Amr was Corporate Vice President leading Cisco’s $13B Global Public Sector, where he was responsible for implementing Cisco’s vision to enable the digital transformation of those who serve, protect, and educate. As the first Middle East born and based
executive in Cisco to run one of the four global sectors, Amr drove Cisco’s global strategy and go-to-market for Federal Government, State & Local Government, Education, Defense, Public Safety, Healthcare, Utilities and Transportation. Amr led all Cisco’s functions to deliver profitable growth, increase market share, drive Cisco’s architectural priorities and improve Cisco’s overall position in this segment. Cisco’s Public Sector business in FY19 was the fastest growing and most profitable with a global team of 4000 people. Prior to this role, Amr was Cisco’s Global Managing Director for Smart Cities and IoT. In this role, Amr managed a global team that developed a strong GTM strategy for smart cities and the IoT portfolio. Amr grew this business from incubation stage to $1B, where Cisco enjoys a market leading position. Before that, he was Director Public Sector for Emerging Markets, leading Go-to-Market across Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa, and LATAM. He came to this role after leading Cisco’s business as General Manager for the North Africa and Levant region in the Middle East. Prior to joining Cisco in 2006, Amr was General Manager of Hewlett Packard operations in the Middle East, joining them with the Compaq acquisition in 2001 where he was the regional General Manager. He led the merger and integration of HP and Compaq, and before that Digital Equipment Corporation as well as a key acquisition for Compaq and where he started his career. Amr Salem is a Venture Capital investor, Board Member and Advisor focused mainly on the Tech and Digital Sector. In the past 10 years he led investments into multiple companies in Technology, FinTech, Cloud and Data Centers, 3D Printing, Artificial Intelligence, Super Foods, Car Leasing... He has a vast network that gives him access to more than 300 deals a year from Silicon Valley to India and other parts of the world. Amr also sits on governance and advisory boards of technology firms in Silicon Valley, India and the Middle East, where he focuses on helping the leaderships teams open up international markets, scale the business, and establish a growth/exit foundation of systems, processes, and operational excellence. Amr has been a member of the Young Presidents Organization for several years where he was Chairman of the Emirates Chapter, and is a long-time mentor to Endeavour Foundation companies. Amr has a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University, lives in Dubai with his three children, speaks English, French and Arabic, and enjoys many outdoor sports.
